Main Objectives:

1. Bring to UAc professors and students the work that is produced in sociology in and about the Azores;
2. Disseminate to the public in the Azores the work carried out on Azorean society and some work carried out on broader realities, of interest to the Azores;
3. Promote better inter-knowledge between UAc researchers and researchers from national and foreign universities, with a view to carrying out joint activities in the future;
4. Discuss with researchers from other universities sociological problems of great importance for the development of the Azores;
5. Promote the development of sociology in the Azores and its dissemination in society.

Project Description:

The event takes place every two years, with the aim of bringing UAc teachers and students, as well as Azoreans in general, knowledge about the work carried out in this area in and about the Azores. Furthermore, this event features several guests, either to strengthen UAc's ties with colleagues from other universities, to bring quality themes and research to the Azores, or to provide debates on the topics in question.
The current edition of the event has at its core the social impacts of the crises of the last two decades on Azorean society and the shaping of the challenges it faces in key areas for its development.

Results:

The expected impacts and results focus on two types:
i) better knowledge of Azorean society, its potential and challenges to development, on the part of all participating audiences and also through social communication. This impact has the potential to influence the design and evaluation of public policies;
ii) possibility for the researchers involved to debate their research objects with their peers in order to draw conclusions for the development of their work and, at the same time, enhance the possibility of new joint projects (of all types) of size regional, national and international.
