Ana Maria de Pinho Ferreira da Silva Fernandes Martins. Doutoramento em Ciências do Mar (Ph.D. Ocean Sciences, Doctor Communitatis Europeae), Programa de Física Fundamental e Aplicada, pelo Departamento de Física, Faculdade de Ciências do Mar, ULPGC (Espanha). Mestrado em Oceanografia (M.Sc., Oceanography), Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography, Department of Ocean, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, College of Sciences, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA (USA). Licenciatura em Biologia (Ramo de Especialização Científica) pela Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa. É Professora Associada em Ciências do Mar, área científica Oceanografia no Departamento de Oceanografia e Pescas da Universidade dos Açores (DOP/UAc). Há 20 anos que é responsável pela Secção (mais tarde, Grupo) de Oceanografia do DOP/UAç. Foi responsável pela instalação da primeira estação de recepção de imagens do sensor SeaWiFS (Orbview-2) e ainda dos sensores AVHRR (NOAA) em Portugal (estação "HAZO", com reconhecimento oficial pela NASA). Foi responsável pela execução de mais de 4 mil estações de amostragem através de cruzeiros oceanográficos e de mais de 30 amarrações oceanográficas colocadas em oceano aberto ao largo dos Açores. Foi ainda responsável pela instalação de 5 estações maregráficas nos Açores. Para além de inúmeros módulos de formação, lecciona(ou) várias disciplinas na Universidade num total ao longo dos anos de mais de 20 disciplinas distintas em áreas distintas das Ciências do Mar, das quais, cerca de 95% com a regência das mesmas. Foi/é orientadora/supervisora de bolseiros de Pós-Doutoramento, Doutoramento, Mestrado e Licenciatura, entre outros. Nas suas atividades profissionais interagiu com mais de 40 colaborador(es) em co-autorias de trabalhos científicos. Publicou mais de 30 artigos em revistas internacionais especializadas, inúmeros relatórios de cruzeiro e de projectos. Auferiu de várias bolsas, prémios e distinções e tem contribuído para divulgar as Ciências do Mar através de palestras públicas e publicações de noticias em jornais e outros.
