Biography
Maria do Carmo Barreto, BSc in Biology, MSc in Biotechnology (Biochemical Engineering), PhD in Biochemistry, is associated professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of the Azores. Her main research interests are the biological activities of terrestrial and marine natural products, in the search of pharmacological, cosmeceutical and biotechnological applications. She is the author / co-author of 42 international peer reviewed papers in indexed journals (Scopus), 6 book chapters, approximately 100 oral and poster communications in scientific meetings, co-editor of one book and of one special issue of Molecules (MDPI),and is the co-author of 2 patents. She has been involved in 12 financed research projects, 5 as local PI. She teaches in PhD, MSc and BSc courses, supervises PhD and MSc students, Final Degree Projects and Internships.
