The FGF annually awards the Ana Neto Prize to the best Biology degree student, worth €1,000.00 (one thousand euros), in memory of the Doctor Ana Isabel Neto, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of the Azores, between 1987 and 2021.
As a result of the death of Researcher Ana Isabelo de Melo Azevedo Neto, who always showed enormous appreciation for the work of the FGF team in managing its research projects, some of which are still ongoing, it was decided by the Board of Directors, in 2021,< br />
For this purpose, a logo for the award was designed by FGF's own creative team (made available to R&D Units and Faculties that showed interest in its future use) and the award certificate. The logo was intended, in itself, to be a tribute to the researcher and brought together two prominent elements in its final stylized composition:
• The handwritten signature of Professor Ana Neto.
• A seaweed, image taken from a scientific article he authored.
The Award designation intended to expand the geographical scope of use of the logo, to different platforms, publications and international events.
