Fundação Gaspar Frutuoso (FGF) and Caixa de Crédito Agrícola, aware that the recognition of research and development activities in various scientific areas constitutes a stimulus for the progression of knowledge in themes essential for the improvement of science and/or quality of human life, and that institutional cooperation is an added value for the promotion and advancement of scientific knowledge, technological development and innovation, they established a protocol among themselves for the attribution of the Scientific Merit Award from the University of the Azores.
The University of the Azores Scientific Merit Award, worth €2,500 (two thousand and five hundred euros), sponsored entirely by Caixa de Crédito Agrícola, aims to distinguish, recognize, and promote the scientific work of members of the University of the Azores (UAc) community. ), assuming a driving role for a culture of excellence in research in all scientific fields.
According to Article 3 of the Regulation, the Prize is intended for teachers and researchers who are linked to the UAc or the FGF, to scholarship holders for whom the UAc or the FGF are funding or hosting entities, and to other researchers who are members of integrated UAc research units.
Scientific area of the Prize in 2024
In this first edition of the Scientific Merit Award of the University of the Azores, which takes place in the year in which the 25th anniversary of the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation is celebrated, the FGF Board of Directors decided to award the Award in the scientific area “Exact and Natural Sciences”.
Presentation of applications
Applications for the University of the Azores Scientific Merit Award are open between 00:00 on February 12th and 23:59 on February 18th, 2024.
Applications must be submitted using a specific electronic form on the FGF website. Each candidate may submit only one application, under the terms defined in the Regulations and Notice. Only scientific articles with original results, published in journals indexed in SCOPUS or the WEB of SCIENCE with an impact factor equal to or greater than 5 (five) will be admitted to the competition. Applications submitted after the deadline or not meeting the requirements indicated in the Regulations and Notice will be excluded.
