Service Provision Description:
The purpose of this service provision is the biological monitoring, at the structural and functional level, of Ribeira da Achada and Ribeira do Folhado (Northeast Municipality, São Miguel, Azores).
In particular, the service consists of the analysis of structural biological elements (benthic macroinvertebrates and benthic diatoms) and functional (rate of decomposition) in two locations on the Achada stream and one site on the Folhado stream (both to be indicated by the DRRF) , quarterly for one year (total of 12 sampling events).
For the structural elements, the taxonomic composition will be characterized and their abundance will be quantified. The rate of decomposition will be evaluated by the mass loss of plant material placed at the sampling sites.
A final report will be made including the analysis of the results obtained.
