Service Provision Description:
This project aims to improve knowledge of the location and conservation status of organic soils and peatlands, as well as the carbon stock associated with them.
Among others, the intention is to produce a digital cartography oforganic soils and peatlands; classify them according to their state of conservation/degradation; classification the associated vegetation; assess the carbon stock; and create a manual with principles, procedures and management techniques for the conservation and restoration of each type of peatland.
The work is being developed for the Regional Government of the Azores, namely for the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, which obtained funding through REACT-EU.
