iFADO

The present provision of services aims to create maritime services on a regional and sub-regional scale using the EU's Atlantic waters as a case study. By filling current technical gaps, iFADO will use the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) implements to demonstrate the application of innovative products. The project will combine traditional monitoring with cost-effective state-of-the-art technologies: sensing, numerical modeling and emerging observations on platforms such as gliders and buoys. CMEMS products will be scaled back to combine conventional monitoring programs with emerging technologies such as gliders, ocean buoys and satellite data to develop innovative products. The latter shall 1) assist the relevant MSFD authorities; 2) provide services at regional/local scales needed to enhance the development of the blue economy; 3) contribute to the challenges posed by climate change; 4) provide tools for option observation strategies for further prediction; and 5) capitalize on individual partners' initials and historical data based on an EAR perspective.
