Main Objectives:

The 17th edition of the international workshop "Palaeontology in Atlantic Islands" will take place on the island of Santa Maria, with the participation of 25 researchers from several Universities and National and foreign research centers (Poland, USA, Austria, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain). Whenever possible and opportune (i.e. taking into account safety and transport issues), the fieldworks may be followed by the general public. Between the 16th and 18th of August, there will be a Lecture Cycle open to the community at the end of the day, at the Dalberto Pombo Environmental Interpretation Center (see Program in annex). During the workshop, we intend to conclude several research articles and consolidate strategies for the dissemination and sustainable use of the geological resources of Santa Maria Island, both by the local population and by visiting tourists.
