By consolidating a Macaronesian network of banks of microalgae and cyano bacteria with skills for the maintenance and cultivation of strains of these organisms and the development of methodologies for their production and application in industries of On a biotechnological basis, this project fits into the Research and Innovation strategy for Intelligent Specialization (RIS3) within the thematic area "Fisheries and the Sea" of the Strategic Priorities "Reinforcement of the positioning of the Azores as an intercontinental platform in the area of ​​knowledge about the oceans " and "Promotion of collaborations and promotion of activities related to the sea". Within ecology, strategic strategies the project areas of intervention "Marine biodiversity and sustainability of marine resources", "Marine biotechnology", "Energy and marine technologies" and "Valuing marine genetic resources".

During the execution of the REBECA project, the scientific infrastructures of the Macaronesian Region were improved and the scientific excellence of the Research Centers involved in the project was enhanced. Collaborations were established with companies in the sector. It is now important to deepen the development of links and synergies between companies through the dissemination and dissemination of the scientific results obtained and the technologies defined in the REBECA project. It is equally important to consolidate the collections of new cultures created in the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde. On the other hand, after the first contact with Maurit's partners, REBECA-C3 will proceed with the improvement and as a project of a laboratory for the isolation and cultivation of microalgae in Mauritania.
