Projecto "Batata-Doce"

The main objective of this project is the development of biodegradable polymers, from the extraction of starch from endogenous sweet potato residues, from plantations in the Region, with bacterial resistance and antioxidant power, for the packaging sector.

Thus, it is intended to contribute, in an efficient way, to meeting the identified needs, namely with regard to the exploitation of the potential associated with the use of regional resources capable of reducing imports to the region, and the development of innovative and more sustainable products. , from the extraction of starch and combination of bioactive agents. In addition, it is also intended that this project, through its technological advantages, trigger a knock-on effect of technology in different industries and applications in the area of ​​the development of biodegradable polymeric materials.

This approach will enable OTM Verde to develop innovative products with a strong technological component, for the polymeric materials and smart packaging sector, namely: flexible packaging, hard packaging, hotel products, among other possible applications. In this way, with these developments, OTM Verde will be able to produce value-added products, not being dependent on external partners to do so. Consequently, with this methodology, it will allow you to move up the value chain in this sector, making the product developed into a reference product for internationalization.
