Main Objectives:

CLAWAR is an international robotics conference, this year organized by the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Group (GRIA) of the University of the Azores in collaboration with the CLAWAR Association (https://clawar.org/clawar2022/). National and international researchers will participate in this event and will feature four speakers from the University of Minho and the University of Lisbon (Portugal), Carnegie Mellon University (United States of America) and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). The event will host five special sessions in the areas of rehabilitation robotics, robotics with legs, robotics in agriculture, inspection and intervention in infrastructure and educational robotics. Up to 100 researchers are expected to participate, predominantly from Europe but also from Asia and the USA. The conference organization committee is composed of eight researchers and professors from the University of the Azores. The scientific committee is made up of professors from different universities, European, American and Asian. In collaboration with the Azores Programming and Robotics Association (PROBOT), it was decided to hold, in parallel, the VULCANO robotic competition event, which translates into a robotic competition activity for students from basic, secondary, professional and university schools. This event will take place on the last day of the conference and it is expected the participation of groups of students from different schools on the island of S. Miguel and Universidade, launches a new robotics challenge in which a robot must go through a scenario that corresponds to a route in a structure with obstacles and stones that you want to simulate the slope of a volcano. The dissemination of this event will begin in April and training actions will be proposed for teachers who wish to accompany their students in this action.
