Project Description:

The INSiGHT-MJD project is co-financed by FEDER, through the Regional Directorate of Planning and Structural Funds under the Azores 2030 Program in 85% and in 15% by RAA through the Regional Direção Regional da Ciência, Inovação e Desenvolvimento, through the PRO-SCIENTIA Incentive System.

Machado-Joseph disease is especially prevalent in the Azores. We will face critical challenges in this disease through 3 initiatives: 1. Creation of a smartphone application to collect information. 2. Characterization of CAG repeat instability to improve genetic testing. 3. Strengthening the involvement of Azorean patients in DMJ initiatives.
