Project Description:
The SolFoodPack project is co-financed by FEDER, through the Direção Regional do Planeamento e Fundos Estruturais under the Azores 2030 Program in 85% and in 15% by RAA through the Direção Regional da Ciência, Inovação e Desenvolvimento, through the PRO-SCIENTIA Incentive System.
The project aims to develop active, safe and sustainable packaging as an alternative to the use of synthetic polymers. New solutions will be investigated to increase the efficiency of bacteriocin production and their incorporation into active films, combining whey fermentation and the incorporation of biodegradable materials. The new packaging will be applied to cheeses, replacing the use of plastic.
