Project Description:
Priority 1 - Promote sustainable fishing and the restoration and conservation of aquatic biological resources
The project aims to understand how the knowledge of Azorean fishermen can be integrated into fisheries research and management. To this end, it will analyze the science-policy system in the Azores, the relationships between stakeholders, the barriers to participation, and the types of knowledge provided by fishermen. Using participatory methodologies and inter/transdisciplinary approaches, it intends to co-design a regional framework for the joint collection and use of scientific data and experiential knowledge, evaluating its feasibility. In this way, it will contribute to a more inclusive, informed, and equitable management.
