Project Description:
This project will pay attention to two different types of landslide events that will be permanently monitored within the regional early warning system:
(i) Major disastrous landslide events. In this scenario, a generalized regional occurrence of landslides is considered. The main objective is to provide information to civil protection services to anticipate and manage the mass evacuation of people from areas prone to widespread landslides.
(ii) Small landslides. In this scenario, different levels of territorial rupture are considered. Different frequencies of landslides are expected to occur when different precipitation threshold levels are reached.
Results:
The application of the early warning system will define alert communication procedures, assess the response capacity of stakeholders, aims to develop social capacity practices and reduce vulnerability, in a way that reducing the number of people affected, economic losses and disruptions to critical infrastructure/basic services.
