Project Description:
Floods are among the most destructive natural hazards in terms of economic impact, causing widespread loss of life and damage to infrastructure. Robust knowledge about their future trends is therefore paramount for societies across the world. The most intense rainfall events across Western Europe are commonly associated with atmospheric rivers.
The research proposal aims to: i) analyze the recurrence of extreme rainfall events in the West of the Iberian Peninsula during the Lateglacial and Holocene, ii) unravel the influence of ARs and climate modes on extreme rainfall events in recent and past climates.
