Project Description:
The objective of this proposal is to identify the unexplored CWR taxa of the islands of Cape Verde, to increase the sustainable use of biodiversity in improving food security. This project will actively promote the advanced training of researchers from Portuguese-speaking Countries, at Master's and Doctoral level, and will trigger future initiatives to ensure the sustainable management of Cape Verde's natural resources, providing data to reduce the vulnerability of crops to climate change. . PI (Maria Romeiras) and other project partners (ISA and FC have worked together on relevant funded projects, which have contributed to the knowledge of Cape Verde's biodiversity ISA and FC from the University of Lisbon, Academia das Ciências de Lisboa, and Institutions of Cape Verde namely: National Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (INIDA), Directorate General for the Environment (DNA/Ministry of the Environment) and School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of the University of Cape Verde (ECAA/Uni-CV).
