Main Objectives:

The project is part of the comprehensive thematic area of Fisheries and the Sea and the strategic priority MAR3, promoting collaborative practices between regions, research centres, public administration and companies. I know that if you want to develop the target species, it is in the sights of several local companies that want to invest in aquaculture. The project undoubtedly promotes blue growth, through innovation and sustainable use of marine resources

Project Description:

The project aims to create a Macaronesian platform for the exchange of sustainable agricultural techniques, consolidated around research and design, assembly and technical improvement of larval and post-larval production systems of invertebrates. As species will be abalone (Haliotis tuberculata coccinea), limpet (Patella aspera) and hedgehog (Paracentrotus lividus). Different macroalgae production systems will also be tested, on a laboratory and pilot scale, since they are based on the food chain of the aforementioned species. It is intended to test different types of diets and substrates to optimize survival, fixation and larval and post-larval growth.
