Risk Assessment in Volcanic Regions

Project Description:

The experience acquired by the participants of this project request during the execution of the project “VOLRISKMAC: Reinforcement of R+D+i capacities for the monitoring of volcanic activity in Macaronesia (MAC/ 3.5b/124)”, created the need to establish a program of continuity and strengthening of the actions recommended by UNESCO and IAVCEI to reduce volcanic risk, this time focused mainly on resilience to the volcanic phenomenon. Natural disasters, including volcanic ones, impose high social and economic costs, which can be reduced through risk mitigation. In this sense, the VOLRISKMAC II project proposes to strengthen the resilience of Macaronesia's volcanic monitoring systems in the face of possible future emergencies. This will have multiple benefits, helping to reduce the negative effects on human lives, infrastructure and the economy.
