Service Provision Description:

The present acquisition of services, contracted with the Regional Government of the Azores through the Regional Secretariat for the Sea and Fisheries - Regional Directorate for Maritime Policies, has as its main objective to contribute to the protection of marine biodiversity in the RN2000, by mitigating the negative effects of Non-Indigenous Species (NIS). The tasks to be carried out during this R&D consultancy project are part of the C12 action of the LIFE IP Azores Natura project (LIFE17 IPE/PT/000010) and involve the implementation of a strategy to prevent invasions, promote early detection of non-indigenous species and develop control protocols in order to minimize the impacts of already established NIS and, whenever possible, prevent their propagation and dissemination. It is also intended to contribute to the action of project A3 – Creation of an integrated database for the Natura 2000 Network of the Azores and D5.2 – Technical-scientific monitoring of abundances/distribution of marine non-indigenous species (NIS), impacts ecological effects on the marine environment and consequences for the marine environment of project actions. This acquisition of services will support, in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the implementation of European and international policies for the protection of the marine environment, namely the monitoring programs established in the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (DQEM) relating to NIS (D2). The provision of services must take place until 31.12.2024.
