Main Objectives:
This project aims to create a platform to compile, organize and analyze geospatial data related to the Atlantic Islands, with the Azores as a pilot region. The initiative will count on several partners, especially those linked to the UNESCO Chair on Biodiversity and Sustainability in Atlantic Islands.
The platform will facilitate the analysis of territorial data, using artificial intelligence (AI) and Bayesian inference to address challenges such as territorial management, biodiversity conservation and climate change.
The initiative will have several partners, especially those linked to the UNESCO Chair on Biodiversity and Sustainability in Atlantic Islands. The main objective is to structure a platform based on a Geographic Information System (GIS) to facilitate the integration, management and analysis of geospatial data. This platform will also support the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Bayesian inference tools for territorial management, biodiversity conservation and scientific research.
Project Description:
The GeoAtlant-AI&BI project is co-financed by FEDER, through the Direção Regional do Planeamento e Fundos Estruturais under the Azores 2030 Program in 85% and in 15% by RAA through theDireção Regional da Ciência, Inovação e Desenvolvimento, through the PRO-SCIENTIA Incentive System.
The project will develop an integrated GIS platform for analyzing geospatial data in Atlantic Islands, using AI and Bayesian inference. Priorities include territorial management, biodiversity and tourism, with studies on anthromas, ecotourism and invasive species; improving skills through workshops and postgraduate training, fostering a cluster of partners driving innovation in geospatial data analysis in the region.
