Main Objectives:

This project aims to study and analyze the behavior of companies and tourists in the digital domain, enhancing the response capacity of the regional business fabric of the Tourism cluster included in the RIS3 Azores strategy . It will allow the development of new methodological approaches to the treatment of big data in tourism, monitoring the evolution of purchasing behavior and the use of digital media by tourists and evaluating and optimizing the performance of regional companies. It provides for workshops with international experts, an online platform for the dissemination of information, as well as the publication of scientific articles and doctoral and master's theses related to the project. Increase Scientific Production of Quality and Oriented to Intelligent Specialization.

Project Description:

This project develops a model for evaluating and monitoring tourism 3.0., applied to the Azores. It comprises the application of innovative techniques for processing big data in social media, evaluating the activity of companies and tourists. It provides for the creation of databases, surveys, systematization and availability of information, training and identification of critical development factors, using the STAR and DINESERV3.0 models. and providing regional companies with a support tool.

Results:

Over the course of three years, the SMART Tourism project aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Maximizing synergies between different stakeholders in the tourism sector;
  • Organization of seminars, conferences and workshops;
  • Stimulating knowledge transfer processes between academia and companies;
  • Publication of books and articles in international and national journals;
  • Presentations and communications at international and national scientific meetings;
  • Promotion and development of Doctoral and Master theses;
  • Encouraging the emergence of computer applications.
